Payment
The majority of cosmetic surgeries are elective procedures. Therefore, fees for most cosmetic surgeries are payable in advance of surgery. If surgery is canceled after a deposit has been made, a ten percent fee is withheld for administrative purposes.
As a rule, insurance companies do not accept claims for surgery performed for cosmetic reasons. Sometimes they do when cosmetic improvement is the by-product of a medical procedure performed to improve physical function, relieve symptoms, or repair injuries. Insurance companies may accept claims for plastic surgeries performed for medical purposes.
There are some procedures that qualify as income-tax deductions. Our office will fill out claim forms after surgery, if you wish, and provide copies of the operative record if your insurance company requests them. However, our office is not part of the contract between you and the insurance company. The insurance company is responsible to you, not to the physician. Likewise, patients, not the insurance companies, are responsible for any charges incurred. Also, it is impossible for us to fill out insurance forms to make cosmetic surgery appear medically necessary in an attempt to receive payment from insurance companies.
Because our outpatient surgical facility is a certified facility, there may be some reimbursement for operating room expenses from your insurance company.
